Deering Conservation Commission
January 7, 2002 Meeting
Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:37 PM by Chm. Cobbett
Attendance:
Attending : Ed Cobbett Chm., Gary Bono, Bev Yeaple , Krista Helmboldt, Michelle Johnson, Keith Johnson, Lee Jenkins|
Absent: Shane Beard
Also attending: Larry Sunderland
First order of Business:
1. Larry Sunderland presented copies of the Summary of the Deering Lake Questionnaire to all Conservation members present.
Seventy nine persons responded to the Questionnaire as of 12/31/2001 . Larry also submitted a copy of a petition Concerning Monitoring at Deering Lake Public Launch area . All Conservation Commission members signed the petition . (Original-placed in Petition File ) ³Purpose of the petition is to assure that the Town can raise and spend monies to hire persons to monitor the public boat launch during selected hours on summer weekends in order to reduce the chances of a boat entering Deering Lake with exotic aquatic weeds from an infected lake etc..² ie - millfoil for one.
The Deering Association is a sponsor of the Petition . Other Town organizations are being asked to be sponsors and donors .
Minutes:
The minutes of December 3, 2001 were approved as read. M.Johnson motion, 2nd. G. Bono .

Communications:
1. Copy of Wetlands Bureau Decision Report # 2001-00821 Deering unnamed wetland, James Rymes . --- --to construct 15 T-hangers for aircraft storage adjacent to existing airport facility was received by the Chm . from NHDES . Chm. Cobbett had written to NHDES a detailed letter of the Commissions objection to this request by J.Rymes et al - re lot #6-674, Airport property-- Discussion - members wanted to know - What does NHDES disagree with in the Chm.s letter? Why was the permit approved ?
Lee Jenkinsoffered to study the Case File # 6-674, Rymes . The File # 6-674 was signed out to Lee Jenkins . Lee will submit a draft of an appeal to the Chm this weekend.
2. Received - Copy of Cons. Comm. Treas. report ex Town treasurer.
3. received - Copy of check for $500.00 received from the Board of Selectmen from the Conservation Fund to cover expense of specimen drilling at selected sites adjacent to the Greene junkyard in West Deering.
4. Reviewed - Proposed amendments to the Deering ZBA.
5. Received new material re : 4H CAMP . The Chm. will contact Mrs. Ramsey for names of interested students .
Old Business:
1. McAlister farm: Work in Progress.
2. Fish and Game Easement to be voted on at the Jan 8th meeting of the Club. Krista to work on line easement language with Michelle .
3. Greene junkyard. Samples will be drawn sometime this week by NHDES.
4. Walking the Town Easements. Decision- to put up Boundary signs while the ribbons are still present. ie Fish and Game ³
5. Questions re Rt 149 Easement . Is the owner of the property obligated to mow the field and keep brush low? See Pt 4 of 6 Section C .App A , Page 4 . of the easement document. The Chm. will draft a letter to the owners regarding the care of the field etc.
New Business :
1. Received from L.Sunderland a copy of Conservation easement Bk # 5704Pg1545 , State of NH.
2. Received from K.Helmboldt - copy of Declaration of restrictions drawn up for Beatrice Hunter property.
Correspondence:
1. Received from Chm. Cobbett. - Letters of correspondence from/to Mr. Richard Schmitt. Letter placed on File.
Discussion :
1. Gary Bono reported on the use of Duck boxes - . He also reported that he observed some new beaver dams .
2. Gary and Keith discussed the printing of various maps for use at the Exhibit in the Town Hall on Election day in March .
3. The Chm. reported that the Central NH Regional Resource of Cons. Comm. needs a new member. To be discussed at the February Meeting of the Conservation Commission
