Minutes of the February 4, 2002 Meeting
Chm. Cobbett called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM
Attendance: Chm. Ed Cobbett, Treasurer- Shane Beard , Gary Bono,
Krista Helmboldt, Michelle Johnson, Keith Johnson,
Bev Yeaple, Clerk and Alt.
Approve minutes of January 7, 2002
The minutes were approved as amended see Pg2, Communications, item # 3.
³Copy of check for $ 500.00 received from the Bd. of Selectmen from the Conservation fund to cover expense of drilling at selected sites adjacent to the Greene junkyard in West Deering. ²

Shane will review his own report . The Conservation Year End Report will be reviewed again at the next meeting.
Old Business:
1. Rymes, James -Airport Rd. Lot #6-674, Airport property--
At the last meeting of the Commission members decided to appeal the approval of the wetlands permit granted by the NHDES to James Rymes # 2001 - 00821
Lee Jenkins wrote an appeal of the NHDES decision . The appeal was reviewed by the Chm and sent to NHDES .
Result: From NHDES Dated January 18, 2002 . Copy of letter from NHDES To J. Rymes re File # 2001- 00821 in essence - Mr Rymes was instructed to ³ refrain from conducting any of the work authorized in this permit until the bureau has further investigated and acted on this appeal ². The NHDES plans to complete its review within 30 days if all information necessary to make a decision is available to them .
2. Deering Aquifer Study - West Deering. An Analysis Report on five (5 ) groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells adjacent to the junkyard were received from NHDES.
Groundwater samples were collected by NHDES personnel from the bottom one third of the monitoring wells using a peristaltic pump equipped with 0.25 inch ID sampling tubing .
The sampling results indicated the presence of MTBE ( a gasoline constituent ) in the monitoring well directly downgradient of the car storage area. Additional samples will be taken in April of this year.
3. 4 H CAMP Application material received . The Chm. will distribute the material to Mrs. Ramsay and Mrs. Lassey .
Applications are to be submitted by April 30th, 2002.
4. Conservation Easements -
a. Fish and Game. -Michelle and Krista will complete baseline work . CE document awaiting vote by F & G members this week.
b. McAlister - WIP .
5. Membership is needed from Deering on the Central NH Regional Resource of Conservation Commissions. Michelle and Keith offered to be the representatives from Deering. The Clerk was directed to write a letter to the Bd. of Selectmen requesting that they appoint Keith and Michelle Johnson to this Board.
Also - the Piscataquog River Local Advisory Comm. needs a representative from Deering.
6. Town Meeting Day - The display and educational material to be available for the exhibit was discussed. Keith brought workups of maps that can be made available for examination by the Public.
Time assignments and set up time to be discussed at the March 4th meeting of the Commission.

1. Newsletters from Audubon , Fish and Game reviewed.
