Minutes of February 2nd, 2009 Meeting
Deering Town Hall

APPROVED

Call to Order:

Chairman Ed Cobbett called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m.

Attendance:

Chairman Ed Cobbett, Bob Garland, Gary Bono, and Betsey McNaughten.

Treasurer’s Report:

Ed Cobbett presented the year end and recent expenditures from the Conservation Fund.

Correspondence:

The communications were reviewed by the members of the Commission.  No actions were taken.

Old Business:

1.      A motion was made by Gary Bono and seconded by Bob Garland to accept the January meeting minutes as printed.  All were in favor.

2.      PSNH Bartlett Hill Road Restoration – Ed Cobbett prepared a letter to all abutters and gave to Craig Ohlsen to be mailed.  Ed Cobbett will check with Craig Ohlsen to make sure letters were indeed sent out.  Ed Cobbett also spoke with Selectmen on this issue and they agreed to place a Warrant Article designating Bartlett Hill Road as a Class A Trail.

3.      Conservation Easements/Proposed Purchases

A.      Tax Lot Lands – Only one lot is suitable for purchase, which is Map 232 Lot 13.  This lot has a dilapidated building, which we may be able to salvage some boards for wood duck boxes, tires, and a school bus present on the property that will need to be removed.

B.      Poling Easement – Ed Cobbett spoke with them recently and they will call back next week.

C.      Donovan Easement – This project should be completed by the end of this week.

        D.      Homestead Easement – This project is completed.

4.      Bylaws – Ed Cobbett is still working on them.

5.      Conservation Day – Ed Cobbett expressed that advertising in the local newspapers is not efficient.  Need to find other ways of advertising.  Ed Cobbett thought that maybe when sending out the Cleanup Day Notices that a request of email addresses could be obtained and future events could be advertised that way.

New Business:

1.      A new representative for the PLAC was discussed at the meeting.  Bev Yeaple was not present.  Ed Cobbett will contact Bev Yeaple for information on the meetings.

2.      Ed Cobbett spoke with the Selectmen about use of the small room downstairs for storage of DCC Protected Land Books.  They agreed to the use with the following stipulations that a door and lock be placed in the opening and for the DCC members to sort through the easels under the stairs and store them in that room.  Ed Cobbett will obtain a proposal for the door installation.

3.      Ed Cobbett reviewed the Cleanup Report and Water Report presented by Gary Bono.  Ed Cobbett called Steve Walker for the wood duck box information.  Ed Cobbett will prepare the Conservation Easement Summary Report.  Gary Bono will contact Keith Johnson about the updated cleanup list and map.  Ed Cobbett will contact John Lassey about Election Day setup space.  Gary Bono would like to setup a table, map, and easel.

Adjournment:

There being no further business, a motion was made by Gary Bono and seconded by Betsey McNaughten to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 p.m.  All were in favor.

Respectively Submitted,
Michele Murdough, Secretary
