FD Monthly February
The Town of Deering, NH
To:             Deering Board of Selectmen

From:           Chief Andy Anderson

Date:           1 February 2006

Subject:        Monthly Report

This month’s report will cover the period from 1 January to 31 January 2006 inclusive.

The Deering Fire and Rescue responded to 18 calls during the month of January.

Members of the Department participated in two training events during the month.  Six were students in the last Instructional Techniques for Company Officers class ever to be presented.  This National Fire Academy program took place at the Town Hall over four nights and was attended by Firefighters from many New Hampshire communities.

We also completed our mandatory National Incident Management System training on the 31st with 22 of our 25 members in attendance.  We were joined by three members of our Police Department and Selectmen Beth Kelly.

During routine maintenance for an oil change, a faulty transmission hose was found and replaced in 84X1.  Captain Mundy has also spoken with Hillsboro Rescue to arrange for coverage for the three day period when our ambulance will be out of service for body work.  This should take place some time in February.

While the Line Officers were busy with the ITCO class, the Chief Officers kept the rest of the Department busy with some general clean up at all three stations.  In addition to cleaning, organizing, and disposing of unnecessary items, the old station signs were put on display inside their respective buildings.

In an effort to lower some of our fuel costs we are attempting to repair the solar heater at the McAlister Station.  A new motor was ordered and will be installed shortly.

The Fire and Rescue Call Summary and Apparatus Report for the month of January are attached.

Respectfully Submitted,

Chief Andy Anderson
