April Department Report
The Town of Deering, NH
To:             Deering Board of Selectmen

From:           Chief Andy Anderson

Date:           1 May 2008

Subject:        Monthly Report

This month’s report will cover the period from 1 April to 30 April 2008.  The Deering Fire and Rescue responded to 17 calls during the month.

Ambulance One had to be taken out of service due to an oil leak.  With the help of the Highway Department’s mechanic, the downtime was limited to just two days.

A meeting was held with the Captains to discuss projects that they need to complete in and around the stations.  The three Captains will be working together to see how much we can accomplish during the Summer.  Most of the projects consist of minor upkeep (cleaning, painting, patching) to the buildings.

Deputy Chief Chris Ladue is on a 60 Day Personal Leave of Absence.

For training we scheduled a Basic Pumps class through the New Hampshire Fire Academy.  This was a sixteen hour program that culminated with an eight hour practical activity which included flowing handlines, master streams, and relay pumping.  The class was taught by Instructor Wayne Perkins.

Our annual dinner was held on the 12th and was very well attended by nearly 100 invitees from our Mutual Aid towns.

The Fire and Rescue Call Summary and Apparatus Report for the month of April are attached.

Respectfully Submitted,

Chief Andy Anderson
Deering Fire and Rescue
