Subject: Monthly Report
This month’s report will cover the period from 1 May to 31 May 2008. The Deering Fire and Rescue responded to 14 calls during the month. DHART was requested for one air transport.
Ambulance One was briefly out of service to have the brakes repaired by the Highway Department’s mechanic.
Deputy Chief Chris Ladue has returned from his Leave of Absence.
The Washington Fire Department invited us to join them at the New Hampshire Fire Academy for a day of training on the 17th. We practiced fire suppression and search and rescue techniques at the Class “A” Burn Building. In other training, our EMT’s worked on their narrative writing skills for the TEMSIS reports.
During the month of May I was one of nine Fire Chief’s selected to attend the “Leadership in Risk Management” class presented by Primex. Although I was representing our Department I was recommended and sponsored by Director Richard Mason of the Division of Fire Standards & Training and Emergency Medical Services. All of the classroom sessions are complete with one last session remaining that will include the Assistant and Deputy Chiefs.
Assistant Chief Pragoff attended the annual meeting of the Lakes Association on the 24th providing them with information on campfire permits.
Deputy Chief Ladue and I assisted the PD with traffic during the American Legion’s Memorial Day recognition on May 26th.
Eight of our members joined other Deering employees to watch the Portland Sea Dogs defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in extra innings on May 20th. Our thanks to Selectman J.P. Marzullo for organizing the event – we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are already looking forward to next year’s Second Annual trip to Manchester!
The Fire and Rescue Call Summary and Apparatus Report for the month of May are attached.
