Present were Jean Johnson, Judy Wood, Polly Pierce

Polly Pierce suggested that in lieu of writing patrons names on library check out cards, numbers should be used for each patron. Other libraries use this system in order to be in compliance with the “privacy law” [NH RSA 201-D:11 Library User Records; Confidentiality]. It was decided, therefore, to start assigning numbers to patrons as they come in to check out books.

Jean Johnson reported that there was still approximately $660 left in the library account. The trustees are considering purchasing a portable childrens book rack. No money has been spent recently on childrens books. Rather than start purchasing new childrens books immediately, the trustees decided to wait until the State librarian can come to the library to make suggestions relative to purchasing childrens books. It was agreed to wait until the library is cleaned to invite the State librarian to the library.

The trustees expressed their appreciation for Judy Woods great service in taking the library and story hour to the Tumble Tots at the Deering Community Church.
~
It was decided that from now until the end of the school year, Judy will continue to offer Story Hour to the Tumble Tots in the Deering Church. It is hoped that Story Hour at the Library sponsored by the Deering Connection will start in early June.  Judy will check with the schools regarding their summer reading program and suggested books. Polly volunteered to investigate the State Library summer reading program and reading incentives for kids for ideas the Deering library might use.
~
The Trustees decided to put a “wish list” asking for donated books on the town web site.
~
A meeting of the Friends of the Library is scheduled for Thursday, April 29 from 5 to 6 p.m., to help clean the library for the summer season. The first hour will be devoted to cleaning the Library. At 6 p.m., the Trustees will serve dinner to the Friends. A Friends of the Library meeting will also commence at 6 p.m. to make plans for summer programs. If Friends do not want to come to the clean up at 5 p.m., it is hoped they will come to the meeting and dinner at 6 p.m. The Trustees hope that the Friends of the Library will select a chairman, and the trustees look forward to their continued projects and support.
