Regular Meeting of Library Trustees
March 8, 2008
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Deering Public Library convened at Deering Town Hall at 10:00 a.m. pursuant to notice given to all trustees in accordance with the bylaws.
The following trustees were present: Susan Bearor and Kathy Lassey. Librarian Judy Wood was also present.
The meeting was called to order at 10:20 a.m.
Old Business
Discussion was held on preparing for Town Meeting.
The February 21st book discussion, “Saving Fish From Drowning” by Amy Tan was attended by 8 people.
The February 29th movie event for children was well received with ten people attending.
The trustees accepted the library webpage developed by Susan Bearor.
It was decided that training for cataloging the library collection would be done on a person by person training instead of a large group session.
The trustees decided to look into a spring or summer program and felt up to $250 could be spent.
Kathy Lassey will organize a joint book swap with the Deering Lake Improvement Association, Deering Public Library and the public. The date will be determined.
The trustees decided to accept donations of audio books so as to develop audio for circulation.
Susan Bearor will contact Anthony Mento of SMP Architects in New London. SMP will give us some ideas of the process of library expansion.
The trustees decided to review the library policy in sections at each meeting until it is completely updated.
The next regular meeting of the Library Trustees will be on May12, 2008 at 4 p.m.
