Old Business:

Coffee Chats- Turnout and participation was successful. Wednesday is a busier day at town hall. Kathy suggested moving the chats to Wednesday mornings. The next two chats are scheduled for December 7, 2011, 10:30am and December 8, 6:30 pm. The topic will be the library/school house. The postcard discussed last month had a lot of information on them. Should we send a brochure or postcard out to town residence? The topics on the mailer would include information about how to preserve the library and might include: 'Come chat and bring your local artifacts and pieces of Deering history'. A mock up would be good to review at the next chat. Kathleen to research the cost of a mailer postcard and/or a brochure. Kathleen also offered to mock up the brochure.

We would like to take time during the coffee chats to thank Pia Sunderland and Judy Woods. (Pia for her donation to the library  and hard work centered around the plant sale. To Judy for her donated time being our town librarian.) Suggested gifts would be flowers, a stipend, a gift card(s) to Barnes and Noble. It was decided that flowers and a gift card to Barnes and Noble for each would be apprioariate. Kathy offered to take care of invitations and email to the events.

Kathy also spoke about trying to pass on what the library trustees are doing to get the community involved in the library. Kathy will call Beth Rouse and ask to add her name to the agenda for the next board of selectman s meeting.

Volunteers:
Books need to be cataloged, stamped, a pocket put in them, and basically processed to loan. We had a town member reccomended to us by Alana Crawl who might be interested in helping the library. This person is a student studying library science. It was discussed that perhaps she could help us with the technology piece of running the library, as well as organizing the materials we have. Perhaps an internship could be worked out with her caricculem.

Kathleen brought up that she had a call from Ann Howie from the Chichester library. Their library has offered a donation of children s books. If we would like to accept Kathleen will call her back. We all expressed interest. Amy offered to take the books to another location if they were not in good condition or duplicates of what we already have.

Holiday Party:
Lois will call Roger Tincknell to find out fees for a family audience, December 2nd, 9th or 10th. We estimate 75 to 100 people to attend.

Web Page- Trustee names have been updated. Lois has asked about how to get into the library website and the librarything. Kathy will show Lois how to get into the website, blogspot and librarything after the meeting. A sheet of paper outlingin the process is kept in the library file cabinet.

New Business: Area trustees to meet in Swanzee. We will email each other to see who is available to attend.

Kathleen suggested we create a face book page for the library.

Can Beth Rouse add the Blogspot link to the website?

Next meeting December 15, 6:30 pm.

Meeting adjourned: 7:55pm
