Deering Police Department Deering, NH 03244 |
MONTHLY REPORT November 2006
NEWS:.
1. Explorer Post 612 received the “Rookie Post of the Year” Award from the Daniel Webster Council of the Boys Scouts of America. Ofc. Hodgen attended the ceremony on November 20th to receive the award.
2. Assisted by a NHSP K-9 Team, and at the request of the SAU-34, the Deering Police conducted a sweep of the Alternative School, finding drugs and other contraband. Specific charges, “diversion” programs, and written reprimands against certain school faculty are forthcoming as this investigation comes to a close.
TRAINING:
1. Ofc. Murphy continues in Field Training. To date she has approximately 360 hours of actual FTO time, and I expect that she will be wrapping up FTO as she approaches 500 +/- hours (sometime in early 2007).
2. Ofc. Murphy attended and was certified in Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and Standard Field Sobriety Testing class at PSTC.
3. Chief Pushee was scheduled to attend a training class on business communications, but had to cancel at last minute due to the Alternative School Drug Investigation.
4. In December Ofc. Murphy is scheduled to attend NIMS/ICS (required for federal grant applications), and Ofc. Hodgen is schedule to attend an investigations class.
GRANTS:
1. BVP Grant is in “limbo.” We have been “approved” finally, BUT after the techs specifically told me to order the vests and the funds could be applied retroactively back in Dec. 05/ Jan 06, upon receiving the approval notice and trying to submit electronically for reimbursement, BVP is stating nothing “ordered” before April 1st will be considered. I have sent correspondence asking for specific reconsideration, and the “techs” state Deering PD is not the only ones having this issue. I also spoke about this issue when talking with Senator Sununu’s aide the other day.
