MONTHLY REPORT March 2008
NEWS:
1. Part-Time Officer Testing was completed, we conducted interviews, and have provided a conditional offer to a candidate. We are conducting background investigations at this time.
2. Chief Pushee will be on vacation on April 18th, and returning on April 30th. Captain Cavanaugh will be the assigned Officer-In-Charge while Chief Pushee is away.
TRAINING:
1. Annual DPD OC (Pepper) Spray recertification class was conducted and attended by all department members and some members of the Cadet Post who assisted in scenario based training.
2. Ofc. Parsons attended training and was certified in conducting Field Sobriety Testing including Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus.
GRANTS:
1. Highway Safety- Speed Grant: Chief Pushee continues working these 4-hour traffic speed enforcement grant patrols. He has worked 3 such patrols in February, resulting in almost 40 mv stops, several tickets, and several arrests.
2. Highway Safety- DWI Grant: Chief Pushee has spoken to Highway Safety, and we will once again be participating in 3 weekends of “DWI Saturation Patrol Grant” in conjunction with similar patrols in Antrim, Bennington, Hancock, Henniker, Hillsboro, and Washington. These will occur one weekend a month in June, July, and August.
3. Highway Safety- DWI overtime Grant: a 90 Hours “overtime enforcement grant” has been pre-approved, signed by Chief Pushee and T.A. Ohlson, and returned to Highway Safety for final approvals. This will provide 90 hours of overtime patrols specifically targeting DWI offenders on Friday, Saturday, and Holiday evenings from May through September.
4. Bulletproof Vest Partnership: the application period is open and Chief Pushee is obtaining vest information and preparing to work on this application process.
