MONTHLY REPORT                      MAY 2008


NEWS:
1.      We are still looking at PT Applicant and will be re-testing in specific areas for verification of findings.
2.      Several “major cases” handled during May  (death investigation, sexual assault, etc).
3.      Cadets took 5th place overall in Annual Competition.


TRAINING:
1.      Chief Pushee and Ofc. Parsons attended training in Current Drug Trends held as DEA headquarters in Mass.
2.      Ofc. Parsons took the 2 day “Incident Command” training, so he is certified and we can continue to apply for federal grant programs.
3.      Ofc. Hodgen attended a week long training in Interview & Interrogation Techniques.
4.      Capt. Cavanaugh took class in prosecution of ALS Hearings.
5.      In June, Department resumes in-house training with Use-of-Force practical training and Annual Firearms Qualifications scheduled.  Will be hosting officers from Bennington and Washington during these dates.
6.      In June, Department is scheduled to attend a “Skid Car” class for inclement driving tactics.


GRANTS:  
1.      Highway Safety- Speed Grant:  These overtime grant patrols are continuing but will conclude in June
2.      Highway Safety- Regional DWI Grant:  We have received final approvals for these regional DWI saturation patrols to be held one weekend each month in June, July, and August.
3.      Highway Safety- DWI Grant:  We have started working these 5 hour overtime patrol shifts on Friday and/or Saturday nights.
4.      Bulletproof Vest Partnership:  We have applied for matching funds to purchase 3 ballistic vests to replace the “out of date” vests purchased in 2003.
