MONTHLY REPORT February 2006
NEWS:.
1. Exploring: Officer Hodgen is beginning to work with Cadets on creating a uniform for the Explorers. Also, three explorers came up to assist PD as “actors” in our annual OC Spray Recert Class Scenarios.
2. Officer Murphy sworn in, and all necessary PSTC paperwork has been filed. Scheduled to begin PT Academy on March 18th.
TRAINING:
1. Ofc. Hodgen completed NIMS Online course, so Deering PD now up to date for current Fed. Requirements in this area. Several officers scheduled to take the Critical Incident Management (2 day) course at PSTC, to prepare for 2007 requirements.
2. In house Training included annual OC Spray recertification and Baton recertification.
3. Officer Murphy attended Baton Cert class at PSTC when Chief Pushee went down to assist with instructing at the current FT Academy Class.
4. Chief Pushee was recertified as an Instructor in OC Pepper Spray.
5. Chief Pushee is still working with Ofc. Murphy on Basic Firearms & Qualifications.
GRANTS:
1. Bulletproof Partnership Grant: I have received e-mail notice that this process is open for applications, and have begun preparing these to help defray the costs of the two vests ordered in January.
2. HSA Speed Enforcement Grant: NH Highway Safety Agency is reviewing my application for up to 60 hours of Overtime Enforcement Patrols, specific to speed enforcement. If approved, this will pay the 1.5 times salary for FT Officers on special assignment, in 4 hour blocks, beginning on/about April 1.
3. Underage Alcohol Enforcement Grant: NH-DOS has sent out information on this grant. Usually this is for compliance checks, etc., but I am looking into seeing if I can use it for Overtime Enforcement Patrols during spring/prom/grad season to combat/discourage the formation of underage drinking parties.
