The Town of Deering, NH
Deering Police Department                                                             Deering, NH 03244

MONTHLY REPORT                      November  2009

NEWS:
  • Officer James Hargreaves has been assigned his own shifts.  Still needs some more minor FTO and in-house training though.
  • Intern Sarah G. continues interning/working with Department through mid-December.  Officer Censabella has been working on writing up an “Intern” Program Schedule.
  • Chief Pushee took a 10 day vacation with his family, though due to scheduling needs and holidays, this only allowed him to use 3 days of his accrued vacation time.
TRAINING:
  • Chief Pushee completed “on-line” training and was recertified as an Intoxilyzer 5000 Breath Test Operator.
  • Officer Censabella was scheduled for two different training events (three days) this last month, but we had to cancel these plans due to schedule shortages and that lack of manpower available to cover those shifts.

GRANTS:
  • Highway Safety Agency Grants:  I haved mailed out applications for these annual overtime grants. (DWI and Speed Enforcement).  We may have more trouble getting these this year because of the budgetary funding cuts to salary lines in 2009, as all such federal based grants are supposed to be non-supplanting.  I have tried to argue that since the cuts were from the Part-Time Officers lines, they don’t affect the hours put in by the Full-Time Officers who are usually tasked with performing these extra-duty grant patrol activities.
