The Town of Deering, NH
Deering Police Department                                                             Deering, NH 03244

MONTHLY REPORT                      October  2009

NEWS:
  • Officer James Hargreaves in Field Training.
  • Intern Sarah G. continues working with Department
  • Officer Philibert has left for final training and will be “boots on the ground” in Afghanistan on Dec. 5th.  Will be gone for at least 1 full year.

TRAINING:
  • Department Firearms Training, specific to Dim Light/No Light with and without Flashlight techniques.
  • Officer Censabella attended short training session in Youth Services Office and Diversion Programming.
  • Chief Pushee and Officer Censabella attended a refresher class in Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and Standard Field Sobriety Testing at the Police Academy.
  • Capt. Cavanaugh attended a RADAR speed measurement certification class, and now has to complete “in-service” trials to complete this certification.

GRANTS:
  • Primex3 grant:  This grant was denied, but the company is starting a “Workers Compensation Safety Improvement Program” (WCSIP) which might provide some moneys in 2010 for funding “specific loss areas.”  I should find out more about this program in January’ish.
  • Highway Safety Agency Grants:  I will be starting to re-apply for these annual overtime grants. (DWI and Speed Enforcement).  We may have more trouble getting these this year because of the budgetary funding cuts to salary lines in 2009, as all such federal based grants are supposed to be non-supplanting.
