The Deering Police are happy to announce that on Wednesday December 20, 2007, during a Town of Deering Employee Christmas Breakfast, Christopher R. Parsons was sworn in by Town Clerk Nancy Cowan as a Probationary Police Officer. During this short ceremony, Officer Parsons was issued his Deering Police Officer Badge by Chief James Pushee.
Officer Parsons will begin Field Training immediately, and will be classified as a Part Time Officer until he graduates from New England College in Henniker, NH, during May 2008. At that time, Officer Parsons will be promoted to the position of Probationary Full Time Police Officer. Officer Parsons is currently in his Senior Year at New England College, studying Criminal Justice and Sports Kineasiology. Officer Parsons grew up in Presque Isle, ME, and received a scholarship in Baseball to attend New England College. He has been named as an assistant coach of the John Stark High School Baseball Teams during the 2008 season.
Officer Parsons is also a Seasonal Police Officer, having served with the New Hampshire Marine Patrol since February of 2007, and he recently received his Part Time Police Officer Certification from the NH Police Standards and Training Council. After Officer Parsons is promoted to the full time position he will be required to attend the Full Time Police Officers Academy in Concord, and will be scheduled to begin that endeavor in August 2008. Officer Parsons will be filling a position that will soon be vacated by Officer John Schulte, who has tendered a resignation to be effective at the end of December 2007, in order to have more time to spend with his family.
The Deering Police are still shorthanded at this time, and are currently and actively seeking applications for the position of Part-Time Police Officers. Resumes and Cover Letter can be mailed to Chief James Pushee at the Deering Police Department located at #762 Deering Center Road, Deering, NH 03244, or they can be e-mailed to Chief Pushee at deeringpd@conknet.com.
