Budget Advisory Committee

The Town of Deering has an Advisory Budget Committee. The committee is purely advisory and has none of the statutory duties or authority of an official budget committee. Department heads and Selectboard will present the Budget Advisory Committee with proposed budgets and warrant articles for the ensuing year fpr review. The purpose of this review is to determine whether the budget is meeting the needs of the town.  Reviewing current and past expenditures assists the budget committee in advising on future budgets, but it does not give the budget committee authority to control expenditures.

The governing body in those municipalities will prepare the budget, hold the hearings and present their proposal to voters.
