For Deering Lake’s Many Visitors

Deering has a population of approximately 2,000. Our per diem emergency medical service is normally funded to provide coverage ten hours a day Monday through Friday with EMS volunteers providing weekend coverage. In response to the public health threat posed by the COVID-19 virus the Board has authorized additional expenditures so that there is now weekend per diem EMS coverage to better ensure everyone’s safety. This additional cost is funded by Deering taxpayers.

Deering Lake is pristine and enjoys some of the cleanest waters of any lake in NH and it attracts lake lovers throughout NH and beyond. Keeping the water pristine requires a lot of work and Deering participates in the NH Lakes, “Lake Host Program.” NH Lakes provides a grant that partially covers the cost of boat checks by Lake Hosts for invasive aquatic species. The remaining cost is funded by Deering taxpayers via designated trust funds

Deering Lake Beach and picnic area attracts beach goers and swimmers from all over the state and beyond. The parking fees collected are moderate by all standards and those fees go towards the rental of portable toilets. When those fees are insufficient to cover the costs of the rentals the remaining costs are funded by Deering taxpayers via designated trust funds.

Deering is by any measure a very good host to its many guests and visitors and we work hard to ensure everyone’s safety during their stay. Our resources are not infinite. We enjoy your company and are flattered by your visits, but we now need your support and understanding as we respond to this unprecedented global pandemic. Your safety is our concern and we remain hopeful that with your help the current crisis will soon pass. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this difficult time.
