From: Chief James H. Pushee

Chief James Pushee of the Deering Police Department, accompanied by Police Explorer/Cadet Shawn Rochenski-Dyer, spent several long days and many long hours volunteering their assistance to the Lyme Police Department and the Extreme Makeover-Home Edition “Extreme Security” Team during the recent build in Lyme, NH.  Also assisting as volunteers to the Lyme Police Department and the Extreme Security Force in this endeavor were officers from several other Police Departments in New Hampshire.

Chief Pushee, who has family ties in Lyme, traveled north to the build site in the early morning hours on Friday October 2nd and was assigned traffic control and road closure posts throughout the remainder of the weekend, averaging 10+ hour voluntary work days each day, rain or shine.

On the morning of Monday October 5th, Chief Pushee met and was accompanied by Deering Police Cadet Shawn Rochenski-Dyer.  Cadet Shawn Rochenski-Dyer is a four-year member of the Hillcat Law Enforcement Explorer Post #612.  Both Chief Pushee and Cadet Rochenski-Dyer spent more than 10 hours that day, in the ever changing New Hampshire fall weather, assisting with Crowd Control for the thousands of spectators arriving for the return of the Marshall Family and the final unveiling of the Marshall’s new home.

During the actual arrival of the Marshall Family by limousine, Chief Pushee and Cadet Rochenski-Dyer were assigned posts at the head of the receiving line of fans, to ensure that the limousine would still have room to safely maneuver past the crowds to hide behind “The Bus” while awaiting the big reveal and the always effective crowd chant of “Move That Bus.”

The Hillcat Law Enforcement Explorer Post #612 is sponsored by the Deering Police Department and meets every other Monday evening at the Deering Town Hall.  Exploring is a Learning For Life program chartered under the Boy Scouts of America, and the National Exploring Council is celebrating its 60th year of service in 2009.  Young men and women who have an interest in learning about law enforcement and public safety services through an Exploring Program should contact their local police department to find out where the nearest established Police Exploring program is sponsored.

Chief James Pushee can be contacted at the Deering Police Department, 762 Deering Center Road, Deering, NH 03244 or by phone at (603) 464-3127, for more information about the Deering Police Explorers, which serve primarily youth from the greater Hillsboro-Deering region and surrounding towns.
