Deering Police Welcome New Part-Time Officer to Ranks

Chief James Pushee is pleased to announce that on the evening of Thursday September 17th, 2009, James D. Hargreaves of Hillsboro, NH, was sworn-in by Town Clerk Nancy Cowan as a Part-Time Police Officer for the Deering Police Department. Officiating this ceremony to welcome Officer Hargreaves into the Department were Chief Pushee, Captain Thomas Cavanaugh, Town Administrator Craig Ohlson, and Selectman JP Marzullo. Officer Hargreaves was accompanied by his wife Leah and their daughter, as well as by his father David, himself a retired Police Sergeant from Derry, NH.

Officer James Hargreaves grew up in Derry, NH and started his Law Enforcement training as a member of the Derry Police Explorer Program, where he soon was elected by his peers into a leadership position. After obtaining an Associates Degree from the NH Technical College System, James became a Patrol Officer for the Derry Police Department, and received his certification as a Full Time Police Officer in the State of New Hampshire as a member of the 129th Class of the NH Police Academy in Concord during the Fall of 2002. James was a member of the Derry Police full time for several years before leaving that position for a civilian career, but soon joined the Chester (NH) Police Department as a Part Time Officer. James continues to serve as a Part-Time Officer in Chester at this time.

Officer James Hargreaves will be filling a position with the Deering Police Department that has been open since Officer Lisa Censabella was promoted and took over the Full Time Patrol Officer position in May 2009. James joins Chief Pushee, Captain Thomas Cavanaugh, Ofc. Lisa Censabella, and Officer Mark Philibert in serving the Deering community. Once Officer Hargreaves completes in-house training on policies and procedures, as well as a field training and evaluation period, he will be assigned to regular patrol duties.  Additionally, James will be assisting Chief Pushee with the Deering Police “Hillcat” Police Cadet Post #612 Program, and he will continue his activities of assisting with Officer Safety Training and Tractor Trailer Enforcement in local and statewide programs.
