The Deering Police Department, in conjunction with the Deering Fire & Rescue and Deering Office of Emergency Management, are sponsoring a Public Safety Awareness Day on Saturday June 9, 2007, beginning at 9:00 AM. The event will take place at the Deering Town Hall on Route 149 (Deering Center Road), Deering, NH. All emergency services in Deering will be represented with equipment, displays, and special events.

The Police Department will have displays and will be showing off several pieces of new equipment that were recently received on grant programs, including new “CAR54” programs in the cruisers, new thermal imagers, and new radios. Members of the Hillcat Police Explorer Post 612 will also be on hand with displays and demonstrations.

The Fire Department will be showing off their new Fire Engine and Fire/Rescue Boat, as well as giving demonstrations on Fire Safety, the Jaws of Life, and other fire-fighting equipment. They will also have members from the Fire Explorer Post on hand with goody bags for the kids. The Rescue Squad will once again have an open house with the Ambulance.

As always, kids of ALL AGES will be welcome to crawl in, on, and around Fire Trucks, Ambulances, and Police Cars. There will be displays on car seat safety, and a Certified Technician on hand to install (or check previous installations) child car seats, bicycle helmets, fire safety, and more. Please come meet and show support for your local emergency and public safety teams this Saturday morning, rain or shine.
